Acadia Magic
This website has information on the park, and the Harbors-Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor and Bar Harbor.
Biking The Carriage Paths
Biking the carriage paths was something my husband and I did no less than three times a week. The paths go for miles, and there is a book on them. We always enjoyed (for those in shape) starting at Eagle Lake and biking down to Jordan's Pond for lunch, then back again to our car. It was around 11 miles but reservations are a must at Jordan Pond House. If you don't have bikes, you can rent them in Bar Harbor at Acadia Bike Shop owned by Joe and they will get you set up quickly. This is an all day activity. The paths are for bikes, and walkers- no cars.
Jordan Pond House
Jordan Pond House is one of my favorite restaurants on Mt. Desert. Reservations during high season is a must. The popovers are wonderful and after a lunch at Jordan Pond House you won't want to eat much for dinner. Fresh fish, delicious salads and superb desserts will make you want to return soon!
Bass Harbor Lighthouse
Bass Harbor lighthouse is a working lighthouse warns against Bass Harbor Bar, which is an under water shoal. Boats have to carefully navigate between the flags or they could hit the underwater rocky ledges. Visitors can walk around the lighthouse, but cannot enter it.
